the boyf and i celebrated valentine's day a little early, with a sweet boat ride around the bay yesterday.

I LOVE OUR CITY.
hope everyone is having a fantabulous weekend!

valentine's day is just around the corner! some ways i'm getting in the spirit around the house:
(swedish!) conversation hearts from miette; no idea what they say but they sure are tasty...

quick craft project: flocked heart tea bags for my sweet's morning beverage
pale pink spray roses nestled in a thrifted, mint julep cup alongside a framed picture of my special valentine - my adorable, goddaughter presley

i'm a leo...

c's a cancer...

i'm fascinated by the signs of the zodiac, so it's no wonder why i'm drawn to these dreamlike images by photographer tim gutt. here are more of my favorites...

i absolutely adore the works by helena of pop pop portraits! these would look so cute in my office. AND...as if these images weren't awesome enough, she also does custom water colour portraits and i cannot wait until mine is ready. it'll be of me & the boyf, with our best friends - our two silly golden retrievers. check out helena's blog for her latest work or shop her etsy store for your own home decor.

whoopie pies...the new cupcake and macaron (though truth be told, i can't turn away any of the aforementioned sweets). a nostalgic treat, legend states that american homemakers would place these delectable desserts in lunchboxes as a sweet surprise...leading the lucky recipient to exclaim "whoopie!" once they bit into the decadent layers and luscious, creamy filling. to make whoopie pies february 14th friendly (and dartsmeetheart approved!), i used heart shaped pans, settled on baking the classic red velvet flavor (the bf's fave), and armed with an icing bag and some sprinkles, wrote some cutesy messages to my sweetheart.
red velvet whoopie pies: a loving & sugar-coated tradition to share with your valentine any day of the year (get the recipe here).

mix the best of gal pals, sweet treats and browsing for ooh-la-la worthy lingerie and you have the ingredients for a perfect girls' night out! enjoy this spread from one of my faves, rue magazine. wouldn't this be the perfect setting for a bridal shower or a pre-valentine's day soiree?

don't all besties look like this while shopping? ;)

so much inspiration for my next dinner party, my room and my closet!

j'adore the chevron and lace details (and the macarons and champagne of course)!
