mission beach cafe epitomizes a classic, neighborhood joint: good eats and good people. for brunch and lunch, this place is it. be patient and brave the lines...goodness is just around the corner. come by and come often as the menu changes seasonally.

wild mushroom benedict: the first i've ever tried and now the only i will ever crave. i once lusted for the dungeness crab benedict they feature from time to time but in this case, mushroom trumps crab (that wasn't even a fathomable statement to me a week ago). a mix of wild mushrooms, topped with an earthy and mind-numbingly fantastic truffle mornay sauce, poached eggs, sweet caramelized onions and spinach on a freshly baked english muffin.

bacon, bacon, bacon: the powers of this porky by-product will never cease to amaze me. but at mission beach cafe? every bite is smoky yet sweet pure bliss.

there's a reason why this burger is so highly revered; look at every table around you and see that at least one person is dining on their grassfed burger smothered with aged gouda, caramelized onions, oven roasted tomatoes, and bacon, served with kennebec fries.
